The Highways Agency is warning drivers that snow is forecast tomorrow. Preston will be among the places affected.

Main roads in south and central Lancashire are due to be gritted tonight from 6.30pm. Frost and temperatures reaching -6C is predicted.

Gritters will be on main roads in east Lancashire from 7pm. Ice and frost is expected as is temperatures as low as -8.1’C.

Snow and ice is expected in north Lancashire, and it may be as cold as -7.2C. Main roads will have been gritted from 4pm.

Drivers are warned there are delays on M58 eastbound between J5, A577 (Up Holland) and M6 J26, Orrell Interchange. Average speed is 20 mph.

One lane is blocked and there is slow traffic on A56 northbound in Huncoat near Accrington, because of an accident involving a car and a van.

There is heavy traffic on Montague Street in both directions in Blackburn between the A677 Preston New Road junction and the A674 King Street junction.
