Roads to be gritted

All precautionary routes in Lancaster, Wyre and Fylde will be gritted this evening, the Highways Agency has said.

Road surface temperatures are forecast to fall below zero this evening, and there may be widespread hoar frost. Remaining secondary routes in Lancaster and all priority footways will be gritted tomorrow morning. A Highways Agency spokesman said: “Please drive with care.”

All priority routes in East Lancashire will be gritted tonight from 6pm. There are weather predictions of snow/ice and temperatures reaching -9.2. Precautionary salt will be applied to all priority routes.

In Central and South Lancashire, all priority routes will be gritted tonight from 6.30pm. Ice is predicted and temperatures will reach -8.6 degrees. Precautionary salt will be applied to all priority routes. The Highways Agency warn it will be a cold night and untreated surfaces may be slippy.
