Drivers not going too fast along Preston ‘speeder’ road

Survey: Coun Michael Welsh

Survey: Coun Michael Welsh

Motorists are NOT driving too fast on a road flagged up by worried residents at a speeding hotspot, a new report has claimed.

Neighbours in Levensgarth Avenue, Fulwood, have told councillors drivers are regularly breaching the road’s 20mph speed limit.

A traffic survey was arranged on the back of the concerns to see if any extra measures were needed.

But County Coun Michael Welsh, who represents the area, said: “The results of the survey are now available and show that contrary to resident’s perceptions the mean speed of vehicles using Levensgarth is 20 mph.

“This does not mean that there are not cases of motorists driving at excessive speeds but there are not enough of them to justify further measures.

“A similar survey is to be conducted on Broadwood Drive where there have also been complaints and we will see if this produces a different result.”
