Drivers face delays

Drivers are being warned of potential delays as bridgework continues.

Vital repair works will be carried out to fix damage to the parapet wall of Tarleton Bank Hall Bridg on the A59 between Preston and Southport and drivers in the area are being asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Only one lane is open to traffic with the other lane closed to allow the work to be carried out safely, and temporary lights controlling the flow of traffic in both directions.

The work is scheduled to be finished by Friday, March 15.

Rob Goulding, highways manager, said: “This work is causing some quite severe delays as the only way we can make the repairs safely is by closing one lane to traffic.

“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience to people whose journeys have been delayed and grateful for their patience while waiting to get past the works.

“Our crews are starting early and finishing late to get the job done as soon as we can and minimise disruption as far as possible.
