Women injured in road smash

Two women were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a crash on a Lancashire road.

The incident, which involved a Renault and a Hyundai, happened in Penwortham Way close to the junction with Chain House Lane, Lostock Hall, at around 4.40pm on Saturday.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said a woman, in her 20s, suffered a knee injury and whiplash while another woman, aged around 40, suffered from shock.

Two crews were sent to the scene from Bamber Bridge and Penwortham and the pair were taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital as a "precautionary measure".
