A man has died after his tractor rolled over in a collision with a car.

A 70-year-old man was driving a John Deere tractor along Tootle Road in the direction of Curlew Lane, Rufford when it was involved in a collision with a Ford KA at around 12pm on Tuesday 18 August.

Police say the tractor driver sustained fatal injuries after the vehicle tipped over into a field after the collision.

He was treated at the scene and was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital but he later died.

The driver of the car a 19-year-old woman, and her three passengers, a 20 year-old-man and two boys aged 14 and 15, sustained minor injuries in the collision.

The police have launched an investigation and urged anyone with any information to get in touch.

Sgt David Hurst of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.

“We are trying to establish exactly how this collision occurred and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
