A Bleasdale couple have picked up a prestigious award in recognition of their eco-friendly efforts.

Robert and Anne Gardner, who run the popular Bleasdale Cottages in the Forest of Bowland, were selected as finalists in the national Visit England Awards Sustainable Tourism category.

They were honoured with a silver award by Penelope, Vicountess Cobham, at the ceremony held at The Jockey Club at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Anne said: “It was quite an honour to get picked as finalists never mind a Silver award.

“We had a lovely evening and it is nice to know the work we do is recognised.”

The team at Visit Garstang on Cherestanc Square were also celebrating after winning a Highly Commended Award in the Visitor Information Provider of the Year category.

This puts them in the top five in their category and recognises excellence in tourism in England.

The glittering awards ceremony which was held at The Jockey Club, Cheltenham Racecourse.
