A young engineer has been awarded with a top scholarship.
Peter White, from Hutton, near Preston, has been named as one of the UK’s brightest young engineers after winning a prestigious scholarship from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
The 18-year-old who attended Cardinal Newman College in Preston, has won the IMechE AMEC Undergraduate Scholarship which will contribute £1,000 per year towards his Mechanical Engineering degree at Warwick University.
The Scholarship was presented to just 40 of the top engineering students in the UK at a ceremony at the Institution’s headquarters in London.
As part of the award, Peter will receive a work placement at AMEC, one of the world’s leading engineering, project management and consultancy companies
Patrick Kniveton, president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, said: “Peter is one of the most promising young engineers in the UK and I am confident that this is an early step in a hugely successful and exciting engineering career.”
