Sixteen-year-old Kathryn Holohan from Penwortham and Hutton St John Ambulance Cadets has scooped the title of District Cadet of the Year 2015 for Lancashire and Cumbria.

To win, Kathryn battled it out against 17 other cadets at Sedgley Park near Manchester, taking part in challenges that included communication, team work, presentation, the media and social skills.

Kathryn said: “I’m really thrilled to be picked as District Cadet for Lancashire & Cumbria, the competition was amazing and all the Cadets worked so hard.

“I’m really looking forward to representing St John Ambulance over the coming year. I’ve learned so much since joining St John Ambulance and I’d recommend it to anyone.

“First aid really can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”

Graham Ellis, regional manager youth for St John Ambulance in the North West said: “Kathryn has demonstrated tremendous dedication and enthusiasm over the course of the competition and I know that she will be a great ambassador for St John Ambulance.”
