A Police officer who has spent the past 23 years serving the people of Lancashire has been recognised at a national awards ceremony.
Sgt Nigel Ralphson was awarded runner-up in the 2012 ACPO – Police Federation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Roads Policing.
Sgt Ralphson, 46, who covers the county’s Northern Division including the Lancaster and Morecambe area, was presented with his award at a national conference in January for his work in tackling issues surrounding young drivers and motorcyclists who drive inappropriately.
Sgt Ralphson said: “I was extremely honoured to be recognised for my work at a national level.
“However, to achieve the results we have requires a team who, on a daily basis, are as committed as I am to reducing road casualties on our roads. I am very fortunate to be supported by such a team and so the award is recognition of their dedication.”
