Plans to build a timber-framed canopy at the rear of a 19th century village pub have been submitted to Preston City Council.
Punch Taverns, owners of the Green Man in Inglewhite, have assured planners the scheme has been designed “to respect the character of the building” which dates back to before 1845.
The pub, on Silk Mill Lane, sits in a prominent position in the picturesque village and is included in the Inglewhite Conservation Area.
Only last year the city’s planning committee passed an application to build a new side entrance, together with a flat-roofed kitchen extension and enclosed yard. The new plan is to build a canopy with a side trellis screen to enhance the new yard area.
Punch Taverns say the proposed work would have “minor, if any, impact”on the original fabric of the pub..
