Three staff members suspended from two Lancashire schools

Three members of staff at two high schools have been suspended over allegations of relationships with pupils.

Two teachers at Worden Sports College in Leyland and a worker at Lostock Hall Community High School and Arts College have been ordered to stay away while inquiries take place.

Lancashire Police are also investigating the claims.

A force spokeswoman said: "A man from the Preston area has been arrested

on suspicion of indecent assault.

"He has been granted police bail until December 17."

David Lowe, headteacher at Lostock Hall Community High School

and Arts College, said: "I can confirm that a member of the non-teaching staff has been suspended.

"The police and school are working together in carrying out an investigation.

"Parents and carers have my complete assurance that pupils are safe

and are not in any vulnerable position."

Officers from the public protection unit at southern division are

also investigating allegations made by pupils at Worden Sports College.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman added: "No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing."

Sue Rignall, headteacher of Worden Sports College, said: "I can confirm

that two members of staff are currently not at school.

"However, I am unable to comment further as the police are carrying out an investigation."

All the pupils involved are understood to be girls.

The incidents are not believed to be connected. Worden, on Westfield

Drive, has around 460 pupils aged 11-16.

Its mission statement said: "At Worden we are committed to rigorously pursuing achievement through high expectation in an open, positive and caring climate."

Lostock Hall High School, on Todd Lane North, was declared an

"outstanding" school by Ofsted inspectors in 2007.

The 11-16 school currently has around 800 pupils on roll.
