Heavy traffic built up after a three-car collsion on one of Preston’s busiest roads.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Sir Tom Finney Way and Blackpool Road, following the smash at 2.15pm on Sunday.

It was initially feared that a person needed cutting out of their car, but this proved not to be the case.

A number of casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks.

Firefighters remained on the scene for some time to clear hazards from the road, including fuel and oil.
