A charity has distributed thousands of parcels to children across the county this Christmas.

Cash For Kids, which is run by radio station Rock FM has distributed Christmas presents to more than 8300 children in Lancashire.

Organisations that have benefited include The Foxton Centre, Chorley and South Ribble Capps, Barnardos, SAFE centre and Homestart.

Hundreds of people volunteered time to act as collection points, toy sorters and collectors with Sainsburys and Arnold Clark being the main collection points. Schools including Whitefield Primary and Our Ladys High School held dress down days to raise money for the appeal and lots of mince pies and cakes were baked and sold.

Nikki Thompson charity manager, said: “This appeal is to help the children in Lancashire who would get nothing on Christmas Day and the generosity of the people of Lancashire is amazing. I hope on Christmas Morning when our Secret Santas are surrounded by family and friends they realise that somewhere in Lancashire a child is opening something wonderful that they donated.”
