The Future glory will be Automatic

Award-winning indie rockers The Automatic and Futureheads are coming to Preston as part of a spectacular double performance. The bands will perform at Preston city centre's Lava Ignite nightclub on Friday, November 20.

Welsh rockers The Automatic hit number four in the charts in 2006 with their most popular single Monster, while post-punk group Futureheads, who have been compared to The Jam, enjoyed chart success with a cover of Kate Bush track Hounds of Love.

Hosting the bands will be a first for the Church Street club, which is now set to spend 3,000 expanding its stage area and improving the sound system in readiness for the event.

It follows a recent branching out into top live performances after bosses last month announced dance star Calvin Harris will play at the 1,850 capacity venue on November 28.

Deputy manager Dominic McGurrin said: "They have selected to do three venues across the country for Luminar Leisure and we have been chosen as one of them.

"We are just trying something new on a Friday night. The door price will be no different to a normal Friday.

"We are going to build the stage out further and put some extra front of house channels in."

Meanwhile Lava Ignite has announced it is joining forces with Squires nightclub – both owned by Luminar Leisure – to provide a Christmas boost to charity shops in the city.

The clubs are to give away tickets for their Christmas Eve parties to a group of charity shops, due to be finalised in the next week, which the charities can then sell for the club.

All the money made on the tickets then goes to boost the charity shops' coffers.

Mr McGurrin added: "Luminar has always been very good at doing collections for charity.

"We are just waiting for the tickets to be printed by head office and as soon as they get brought in we are going to give some tickets to charity shops."
