Teens give sex health opinions

Teenagers and their parents were given a say in a new county-wide sexual health initiative.

Around 30 different organisations have worked together to produce a new sexual health policy for young people, after consulting youngsters and parents.

The policy's main message is that looking after young people's sexual health is the responsibility of everyone who comes into contact with them in their working lives.

Pat Jefferson, retiring executive director for children and young people at Lancashire County Council, said: "Most importantly, it acknowledges that sex and sexuality do not exist in a vacuum, but within complex relationships and social structures.

"This policy represents our commitment to promoting healthy relationships and positive sexual health and well being to all children and young people."
