Youngsters were rescued by fire fighters after becoming stuck in a lift at Preston Bus Station.

Fire crews were called at 8.30pm on Sunday, after five teenagers became trapped in the lift from the car park between the first and second floor.

Watch manager Caroline Sturgess said the lift had broken down and said: “The engineers on site tried but couldn’t get the door to open - the kids had panicked and started kicking the door from the inside and buckled the door.”

Five engines from Preston attended, and fire fighters used lift keys in the rescue.
