Around 100 new jobs are being created in Preston at a new home store.
The Range is set to open at Queens Retail Park in the city at the end of April – it will take over the building occupied by Homebase.
The chain is owned and run by Plymouth-based entrepreneur Chris Dawson and has around 100 shops across the UK – many of which were former Homebase sites.
The new Preston store will create around 100 part-time and full-time jobs; from store and department managers to warehouse workers and administrators.
Chris said: “We feel that The Range is a unique shopping experience that has something for everyone and we are confident that the people of Preston will enjoy what The Range has to offer.
“We are a fast growing company and I am confident that The Range Preston will play an important role in our expansion.
“I would personally like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive and I look forward to inviting the people of Preston down to see what we are all about.”
It comes a month after the chain announced it would be opening a store in Leyland.
The chain is set to take over the vacant store in Olympian Way near Morrisons, after Homebase closed in December.
The new Leyland store will also create around 100 full-time and part-time jobs in the town.
At the time Mr Dawson said: “The continued success of The Range is down to the staff we employ, we are very pleased to be creating a number of jobs in the area and look forward to inviting new members to join the team.
“I would also like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive.”
