Design students from the University of Central Lancashire have showcased the very best of their work at an annual exhibition.
This year’s MA Design Show at UCLan’s PR1 Gallery includes commercial projects for Sony Computer Games Europe and local company Lunar Caravans as well as a dynamic design for Preston’s bus station.
The MA Design Show 2013 is a showcase of creative talents from postgraduate students in a range of subjects including animation, ceramics, children’s book illustration, design, graphic design, games design, interior design, product design and surface pattern.
James Burton, 21, works as part of a team of UCLan graduates who set up independent games design company White Paper Games alongside his MA Games Design studies.
He said: “My journey through the MA has allowed me to develop skills as a technical artist that speed up the processes of games development.
“These innovative techniques help the team at White Paper Games to compete against larger companies with our debut title Ether One.”
Other eye-catching projects include a campaign from graphic design artist Chittira Shivaji Panikkar, 27, which addresses anti-fat attitudes and negative behaviour towards overweight people.
Kathryn Jones, a 26-year-old surface pattern designer, has developed a range of children’s floor cushions in the style of a totem pole.
The free exhibition runs from 9am to 7pm until tomorrow.
