Spill causes crash
Petrol and diesel were spilt on to a road after two cars crashed in Preston.
Police were called to the collision involving a Honda Jazz and a Suzuki Ignis on Eastway, Fulwood, at 9.30am yesterday.
No-one was seriously injured.
Strike a light for troops
The charity Support Our Soldiers is appealing for people to light a candle on Christmas Day to commend the bravery of servicemen and women and their families.
The Preston Branch this year collected 130 parcels to sent to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia.
Walk this way for health
Kick start the new year with a guided walk. The Gregson Lane Health Walk will take place on January 13, starting at 1pm, from the car park next to the Gregson Lane Community Centre, in Hoghton.
Taxis pass the test
Police spotchecks have been carried out on cabbies in a Lancashire town.
Officers have been checking that vehicles are safe in Clitheroe.
But all passed with flying colours, with the exception of one taxi which had a bald tyre and was made to change it.
The operation was run in partnership with Ribble Valley Council.
Over 100 have obese ops
More than 100 people in Lancashire have undergone surgical procedures for obesity, figures have shown.
Between 1997/98 and 2005/6, Lancashire and Cumbria Strategic Health Authority has performed 108 surgical procedures on obese patients, figures from the Department of Health reveal.
The statistics were revealed in answer to a Parliamentary question.
Hedgelaying competition
The Wyre and Myerscough Hedgelaying Competition will take place on Saturday, January 24.
Beginners are invited to attend a taster workshop with spectators welcome to visit the event at Myerscough College free of charge.
The event runs from 9am to 4pm.

Next meeting date of NHS
The next meeting of NHS North Lancashire will take place on Wednesday, January 28.
The meeting takes place at Trust HQ, Moor Lane Mill, Lancaster.
It gets under way at 9.30am.
Fire wrecks caravan
A caravan was destroyed by a fire in Morecambe.
Fire crews were called to Southgate, White Lund Industrial Estate, just before 11.15pm on Monday.
Garage hit by blaze
A garage and its contents were damaged by a fire in Lancaster.
Two fire crews were called to Prospect Drive, Hest Bank, just after 10.10pm on Monday.
