Supermarket investigation continues
Police are continuing to investigate an attempted robbery at a Lancashire supermarket. A security guard was stabbed in the leg in the raid at Booths in Liverpool Road, Longton on Tuesday.
Four men were arrested, but released on police bail while inquiries continue.
New supermarket to open
A new supermarket will open its doors in a Lancashire town tomorrow, creating 34 jobs.
Sainsbury's has taken over the former Somerfield store in Park Hill Road, Garstang, near Preston.
William Bailey, who has worked at the store since 1984, will cut the ribbon.
Traffic light switch on
The switch-on of traffic lights to tackle M6 congestion is complete.
The 160,000 Highways Agency scheme aims to tackle traffic problems around junction 31a of the M6 in Fulwood, Preston.
The switch-on of the congestion-busting lights was due to be finished on May 11, but was delayed until Friday.
A number of traffic lights have been installed on the approaches to roundabouts at Bluebell Way, Anderton's Way, and Eastway.
Crimewatch puts criminal back behind bars
A city criminal wanted on prison recall is back behind bars thanks to Crimewatch. Stephen Bosanko, 28, had been on the run since February this year, was wanted after he broke the terms of his licence. He was sentenced to 180 days for driving while disqualified and possessing drugs, but was let out of prison in December.
He was arrested after being recognised in Preston by a police officer.
Royal visitor
A Royal visitor will be in Lancashire next week.
The Duke of Gloucester will visit Clitheroe, Preston and Lancaster on June 23.
His Royal Highness will unveil a plaque to two Victoria Cross winners in Avenham Park and official re-open the Clitheroe Castle complex.
Uncertainty over club
The future of a Lancashire youth club is in doubt, it has been revealed.
The 119-year-old Longridge Youth and Community Centre is deteriorating and the lease on the building has expired.
According to a report from Ribble Valley Council, the club, in Berry Lane, may need to move to the town's Civic Hall if funding for repairs is not agreed.
That move was first suggested 18 months ago by Ribble Valley Council but it was strongly opposed by the group. Bosses at the youth club were due to apply for funding.
Vintage village fair at Scorton
A huge annual Lancashire country fair takes place next weekend.
The Scorton Vintage and Country Fair, at Woodacre Lodge Farm, Gubberford Lane, Scorton, will be held on June 20 and 21.
The event gets underway at 9am on both days. Tickets are 7 adults, concessions 4. Children under 10 go free.

Injured man still 'stable'
A man who suffered serious head injuries outside a pub in Preston remains in a poorly but stable condition.
Raymond Harris, 56, was taken to the intensive care unit at Royal Preston Hospital after the incident on June 4.
He was escorted out of Arkwrights in Plungington after being refused more drink.
Police report on the agenda
A public report from police in Preston will form part of the agenda at a Preston Council meeting.
The Central Area Forum meeting takes place at the Gujarat Hindu Centre, South Meadow Lane, Preston, this evening.
The meeting gets underway at 7pm.
Four vehicles in road smash
Two buses and four motorbikes were involved in a crash in Walton-le-Dale.
The accident happened just after 2.30pm on Friday on Chorley Road. No-one was injured in the incident.
Arsonists hit bus in attack
A minibus was destroyed in a possible arson attack.
Firefighters were called to Ennerdale Avenue in Morecambe just after 1am on Sunday.
Choir on song
A gospel choir is coming to a hall near Preston.
The choir and fete is at St Oswald's Parish Hall, Preesall on Tuesday, June 23 from 7pm. Tickets cost 6.

Galloway's Society for the Blind is holding a strawberry and craft fair tomorrow, between 2pm and 4pm at Howick House, Howick Park Avenue, Penwortham. There will be tastings.
Entries sought for arts award
Potential successors to the National Football Museum as the Lever Prize winner can now enter.

Double bill of Disney delights
A double bill of Disney classics will be performed by students of Preston College Performing Arts.
Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin are the hits at Charter Theatre, Lancaster Road, from tomorrow to Saturday.

Arson theory on car blaze
Police are investigating a suspicious car fire in Lancaster.
Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze in the Audi estate vehicle on Longlands Road at 3.45pm on Friday.
School hosts summer fair
Kingsfold Christian School,Tarleton, is holding its summer fair and dog show on Saturday.
The charity event starts at 12.30pm at the school in Moss Lane, Hesketh Bank.
History is a walk in park
The history of two Preston parks and a multi-million pound project to redevelop them is to be brought alive by a guided tour.
The free walk around Avenham and Miller Parks, guided by the park manager, will begin at the Pavilion at Avenham Park at 10am on July 4.

Lost ball leads to rescue bid
A teenager got stranded in the grounds of a school after climbing over the gate to retrieve a ball.
Firefighters were called to rescue the boy from Holme Slack Primary School, Manor House Lane, Deepdale, at 9.20pm on Friday.
A fire service spokesman said: "He'd got a bunk up off his pals but couldn't get back over."
Extra date for Gorman
Funnyman Dave Gorman has added a second Preston date to his forthcoming tour.
The star of Are you Dave Gorman? is already set to perform at the Guild Hall on September 14.
But he has scheduled a second night at the Charter Theatre on February 11.

Church plans outdoor event
A barbecue is to be held at St Helen's Church, Churchtown, near Preston.
It will take place on
Saturday, June 27, from 7.30pm to 11pm and feature an open air barbecue with live music in the church square. Tickets are 6 for adults and 3 for children.

Biker breaks arm at track
A motocross rider broke his arm in a crash at a Preston track.
The North West Air
Ambulance was called to Trax in Wall End Road, Riversway, at noon on
Sunday to take the 23-year-old man to hospital.
Battle of the brass bands
The English National Brass Band Championships are coming to Preston.
Musicians will be battling for honours at the Guild Hall from 10am on
Saturday, June 27.

Gadgets gone in car raid
A mobile phone, sat-nav and an mp3 player were stolen from a car.
The Saab, parked in Hareden Road, Ribbleton, Preston, was broken into between midnight and 3am on Sunday.
Barbecue safety alert
People are being reminded to let their barbecues cool down before storing them away after a blaze in Preston.
Fire crews were called to Tulketh Crescent, Ashton, at 8.30pm on Sunday.
A Lancashire fire service spokesman said: "People need to make sure
barbecues are not hot before being stored inside."
The fire caused smoke damage to the garage.
Donate blood: sessions in city
Two blood donor sessions are being held at Preston's Guild Hall on Monday, June 22.
They will take place in the Avenham Suite from 2pm to 4pm and 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
