Students asked to be considerate
Students are being urged to be considerate towards neighbours.
Preston Council has organised the awareness drive during Freshers' Week and will be handing out leaflets about environmental health issues such as waste and recycling. Duncan Coward, head of waste and recycling, said: "It is designed to make life easier for students, and help in the most convenient way."
Rock legend to visit the city
Rock legend Bill Wyman will be visiting the city in November.
The former Rolling Stones bassist will be at the Guild Hall with his Rhythm Kings band.
Appearing with him will be legendary musicians including Albert Lee and Georgie Fame. Tickets are available from the Guild Hall box office or by calling 0845 344 2012.
Inquest into baby's death
An inquest is today due to be held into the death of a baby who died at just 18 days old.
Preston Coroner's Court will hold an inquest into the death of Calum Robert Smith, of Salwick, near Preston.
Baring all for charity
Six naked ladies are to bare all at a pub charity event to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The fundraiser, which takes place at the Gregson Lane Sports and Social club in Hoghton on November 7, will commence at 1pm for family fun, before the adult evening starts at 6pm.
There will be a bouncy castle and face painting for children, as well as a raffle, auction and give-aways throughout the day.
The six brave women will have their photograph taken with the Cancer Research UK banner.

Obese pets put on a diet
A total of 17 owners signed their porky pets up to a Preston vet's weight loss scheme.
The Kilo Crunch Challenge which was launched by Vets4Pets, Moor Lane, at the beginning of July to address the issue of pet obesity.
Andrew Harrison, from Vets4Pets in Preston, said: "Pet obesity is at a critical level."
Customers can bring their cats and dogs in for a free weight check consultation where they will be weighed and, if necessary, given a weight-loss target together with appropriate diet and exercise advice. Call 01772 254 111.
3,000 raised in charity leap
Skydivers from a Lancaster firm have raised more than 3,000 for charity.
Five staff at Premierline Direct jumped from a plane to raise cash for St John's Hospice in Lancaster.
Chris Little, managing director at Premierline Direct, said: "I am extremely proud of the team."
Employees have also organised dress down days and cake sales to raise another 400.
School hosts jazz concert
All Hallows High School in Penwortham is teaming up with Lancashire Youth Jazz Orchestra for a concert at the school his coming Friday.
Tickets are 6 for adults and 3 for children from 01704 823276. All proceeds to The Legacy Rainbow House.
Sale date at church
A tabletop sale will be held at Leyland St Mary's Church, Broadfield Walk, on September 19.
The event, which runs from 10am-12pm, will raise money for HCPT Pilgrimage Trust. Admission is 30p. Tables can be booked for 6 from 01772 468474.
Golf event
The Rotary Club of Preston Amounderness is organising a charity golf day at Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club on Thursday.
Teams of four will tee off at 10-minute intervals. To enter, call 0798 018 4480.
Council nod
Land behind the Ethical Spiritualist Church on Adelphi Street, Preston, will be used for six apartments. The council gave consent for a two-storey block.
Shop plans
A photographic studio in St Wilfrid Street, Preston, will become a shop after the city council gave planning consent.
New games
Sycamore Road Play Area in Ribbleton, Preston, is to get new play equipment.

A TV psychic is looking for people to take part in her new show.

A famous club night is heading for Preston.
Hed Kandi will take over Truth Nightclub, Glover's Court, on Thursday September 17 bringing a fully-branded club makeover with official DJs taking over the decks.
