Councillors to discuss waste collection
Councillors will be discussing the waste collection service when they meet tomorrow.
The community watchdog scrutiny committee will also look at the local Children's Trust and community safety.
The meeting will take place at Leyland Civic Centre from 6pm.
Phone company request permission for mast
A mobile phone company wants to erect an 11.4 metre high mast on a footpath.
Vodafone Limited has applied for planning permission for the telegraph pole, plus three antennas and equipment cabinets in Pedders Lane, Ashton, Preston.
Police force among best
Lancashire Police has maintained its position as a top-performing force.
The Home Office says Lancashire Police is "exceeding the standard" in neighbourhood policing.
It is the only force in the country to receive the "exceeding the standard" award in neighbourhood policing and one of only three forces to achieve it in citizen focus.
Levels of domestic burglary and vehicle crime are now at their lowest in 35 and 28 years respectively.
Young yobs cause blaze
A group of youngsters caused three buildings to catch fire when they left a candle burning in a shed.
The gang had been using the garden shed in Holmfield Crescent, Lea, Preston, as a hideout but left the candle burning when they left just after 7pm on Friday.
The fire spread to a nearby conservatory.
Pond plan for Fishwick
A fishing pond could be created on open space in Fishwick, Preston. Preston Council wants to create the pond on land to the south of Church Avenue and Bidston Street.
Coffin up?
Preston City Council has been asked to give planning permission to a cash machine facility for the Cemetery Post Office in New Hall Lane, Preston.
Christmas in the valley...
Christmas is coming to Cuerden Valley with a Christmas fair for all the family on December 7.
The event at Cuerden Valley Park, Bamber Bridge, starts at 10am and includes children's crafts, Santa's grotto, Hunt the Santa, a Santa shy and seasonal refreshments.

Students put work on show
Printmakers from the University of Central Lancashire will have their work showcased in an exhibition in Preston city centre from December 2.
The Artlab@UCLan exhibition, at the PAD gallery in Old Birley Street, uses a broad range of processes including etching, relief, lithography, silkscreen and digital print.
PAD will be holding an open evening on December 4 with an opportunity to meet the artists – and to enjoy late night shopping with mulled wine and mince pies. Call 01772 903471.
Have a say on police issues
Residents in the town centre area of Leyland can attend a PACT meeting on December 4.
The event is at 6pm at Leyland Methodist School.
Get a special signed book
Preston author Rick Crombleholme will be signing copies of his novel His Own Blood on December 7.
Rick, from Lea, will be at Borders, Deepdale Retail Park, from 12pm.
All the talk will be local
Members of the public are invited to attend the next meeting of the Wyre Lancashire Local.
It will be held on Wednesday at St Peter's School in Inskip, near Preston, starting at 7pm.
Special night of music fun
Sheffield comic John Shuttleworth is bringing his organ to Preston for a special performance.
He is set to play "classics" including Pigeons in Flight, I Can't Go Back to Savoury Now and Eggs and Gammon and Two Margarines.
The show will take place at the Guild Gall from 7.45pm on Thursday.

Santa takes a train journey
Santa Claus is taking the train this Christmas as part of a series of festive journeys on the Ribble Steam Railway.
The cheery old man will be offering presents to children aged over six months while sherry and mince pies will be given to adults.
The 40 minute journeys will start from the Ribble Steam Railway centre in Riversway.

Christmas at spooky place
Spooky seasonal meals are being offered at a haunted Lancashire house.

Park to host a carol concert
A Christmas concert is planned at the new 1m pavilion in Preston's Avenham Park. Traditional carols are to be sung as part of the event on Sunday December 14. It is to take place from 11am to 1.30pm. Admission is free.

Residents in the Moss Side area of Leyland can attend a PACT meeting on December 2. The event is at 6pm at Accent Housing 19-21 Alder Close.
