Extra living area proposal

The owner of 37 Green Drive Lostock Hall, Preston, has applied for permission to make large scale changes to the building. The proposals include a two storey extension to side and rear with living accommodation in roof space. A decision on whether to allow the plans will be taken in coming weeks by South Ribble Council.

Children’s hospice boost from president

Derian House has benefitted to the tune of £1,050, thanks to fundraising events organised by Chorley Catenian Circle’s President George Culshaw during his Presidential year. The final event was a ‘Big Band’ night, held at St Joseph’s Parish Centre, when 130 Catenians, ladies, and friends enjoyed music, dancing and a supper. Music was provided by The Starlight Swing Orchestra. A cheque for £1,050 was presented to Sue Ellingham of Derian House by Circle President George and his wife Rosemary. Derian House, based in Chancery Road, Astley Village, need £2,9m a year to keep running.

Get ready for fashion show

Ashton Methodist Church in Wellington Road, Ashton is holding a ‘new to you’ fashion show on Friday. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Admission is £5 including refreshments. There will also be racks of clothing for sale.

Crews called to grass fire

Fire crews were called to dampen a grass fire. Firefighters from Preston Fire Station were called to a blaze on Longridge Road in Ribbleton just after 6pm on Tuesday. A small fire had started in a grassy area near to the RSPCA centre and crews used beaters to put it out.
