Civic pair to attend show

The Mayor and Mayoress of Preston, Coun Carl Crompton and his wife Linda will attend a production of ‘Cat’s Cradle’ at The Playhouse in Market Street West, Preston, on Thursday night.

Consultation nears the end

The final public consultation event over plans for Euston Street Park will be held on February 25 at the Sikh Gurdwara in Bow Lane, Preston. The session will run between 6pm and 8pm.

Date set for blood donation

The next Bamber Bridge blood donation session will be held on February 28. It will take place at The Pines Hotel in Clayton-le-Woods. There is a session 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

Raise the roof

A theatre is holding a comedy night to help raise funds for its new roof. Preston Playhouse needs to raise £50,000 to mend a leak and preserve the theatre on Market Street West. The members are hosting a Kings of Comedy night, telling the story of great comics of the past and the best of their acts. It takes place on Saturday March 2. To book tickets, call 01772 744771.

Historic hall makeover plan

Plans to improve safety at Grade II listed Penwortham Hall in New Lane, Penwortham, have been submitted to South Ribble Council. The proposals are to relay uneven stone flags and erect a fence and iron bollards.

Build a nest for feathery friend

A bird box making workshop runs from 2pm till 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at Brockholes Nature Reserve. Admission costs £10 per person including car parking. Suitable for all ages.

Farmers event is set to open

The Cuerden Valley Park Farmers’ Market runs again this weekend. From 10am to 2pm on Sunday there will be 30 stalls available in and around the Barn Visitor Centre, Berkeley Drive, Bamber Bridge.

Hospital trust recruits nurses

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is recruiting nurses. A spokesman for the NHS foundation trust, which runs Preston and Chorley and South Ribble’s hospitals, said: “We have vacancies for nurses in a wide range of our departments. Visit NHS Jobs to find out more and apply. “For more information about working in a specific department, contact one of our recruitment team.”

MP will meet constituents

Mark Hendrick is holding an open surgery at Larches and Savick Community Link in Preston next month. You can speak to the Preston MP at the centre in Starrgate Drive, Larches, on March 2 from 11pm to 1pm. Surgeries are run on a first come, first served basis and there is no need to book an appointment.

Blood donors needed in city

Blood donation sessions will be held at Our Lady and St Edward’s Church in Preston tomorrow. You can give blood in Marlborough Drive, Fulwood from 2pm to 4pm or 5pm to 7.30pm. Call 0300 1232323 to book.
