Coffee morning to help charity
The Preston Marriott hotel will host a coffee morning in aid of the MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning annual event on October 3. Enjoy coffee and mini-cupcakes, as well as a good old catch up with their friends, between 11am and 12.30pm as well as a cake decorating demonstration and raffle.
Launch night for pop single
Pop group, the Girls of England, will be holding a party on October 3 to celebrate the launch of their charity single, “All We Want For Christmas Is Your Smile.” The event at Baluga Bar, Preston will see the first playing of the video to accompany the single. Visit www.facebook.com/GirlsOfEngland

Craft event for breast cancer
A ladie pamper craft event will be held at the Oak Royal Golf Club at Withnell, near Chorley on Saturday October 5. It will be held from 11am to 2pm in aid of Breast Cancer Care, Tickled Pink and Cancer Research. There will be mini treatments and stalls. Tickets are £3.
Free three mile guided ramble
A free guided ramble will leave from Hurst Grange Park, car park, Penwortham on Wednesday, September 18 at 10am. The three hour-long walk will cover three to six miles in total and stiles and some uphill walking will be involved. Contact Paul on 01772 625581.
First aid training on offer
If you are unemployed, a lone parent, aged 50 and over or a person with a disability and/or health condition then a free first aid course is available to you at St Cuthbert’s Church Centre, Fulwood on September 19. Call 01772 717461 to join in the course, from 9.30am until 3.30pm

A woman was released from a car when the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle on Cock Robin Lane, Catterall on Saturday morning. She was later taken to hospital.

Chorley Council has implemented a new solution from SecurEnvoy to provide staff with a reliable and safe way to log on to their corporate network remotely. Its previous system relied on hardware tokens. Now it will turn users’ mobile phones into authentication devices.
