Evening with Eric a success
Samlesbury Hall was packed for ‘An Evening with Eric Knowles’ in aid of Ribchester Roman Museum. Around 90 people were entertained by the Antiques Roadshow star, who is honorary president of the Friends of Ribchester Roman Museum. Museum curator Patrick Tostevi said the evening raised almost £1,000 in funds for the museum.
Electrical unit catches fire
Firefighters were called to a home when an electrical consumer unit overheated and set alight. A 76-year-old woman alerted firefighters to the incident in Dymock Road, Ribbleton, Preston, at around 10am yesterday. She was not harmed in the blaze, which officers said was under investigation.
