A host of celebrities have promised to wear their nightwear for the day to mark the anniversary of the death of brave brain tumour victim Katy Holmes.
Singer Russell Watson, Coronation Street stars Wendi Peters and Beverley Callard and footballer Clarke Carlisle are among those who have pledged to take part in a Pyjama Day in aid of the Katy Holmes Trust which will be held on Friday January 18, the day before the anniversary of Katy’s death.
Hayley Tamaddon of Dancing on Ice and Emmerdale fame, voice coach Evie Burnett and Preston North End’s Deepdale Duck will also be taking part in the dress in your sleepwear day which aims to raise as much money as possible for research into paediatric brain tumours.
Katy, 10, of Margaret Road, Penwortham, died on January 19 last year after being struck by an inoperable brain tumour.
Only weeks after her death, schools and nurseries across Lancashire held a Pyjama Day and raised thousands of pounds in her memory.
This year, schools, colleges, nurseries and businesses in Lancashire and beyond will be taking part in the fundraising venture.
Mum Paula, who is married to David and also has daughters Charley, nine and Scarlet, one, said: “I feel very proud and honoured that so many people including celebrities will be taking part in Pyjama Day.
“The anniversary of Katy’s death will be a very difficult and emotional time for us as a family and Pyjama Day will be a great way to do something positive to raise funds for research into paediatric brain tumours.
“We want as many people as possible to take part in Pyjama Day and if they are not comfortable with the idea of wearing pyjamas for the day, they can hold a dress down day instead.”
