School children have been recruited to design “the glasses of the future”.
Pupils from Manor Road Primary School in Clayton Green were challenged by their local Asda supermarket to create the specs as part of a competition to launch the store’s brand new optical department.
Youngsters used coloured card, pipe cleaners, fabric and other textured material to create their glasses which could do anything from reflect a person’s mood to solving homework.
The competition winners from Manor Road were invited into store with their quirky designs to collect their Asda gift cards.
Leann Milburn, community life champion at Asda Clayton Green, said: “We were bowled over by the creativity of the children. The glasses are imaginative and offered them the opportunity to express their creative side.”
