Social club could be demolished

A social club in a Preston conversation area could be demolished to make way for a small housing development.

Business Parviz Shahsvar, who also owns the Ribble Reclamation yard in Fishwick and The Rumes nightclub in the city centre, has applied to Preston Council for special consent to demolish the Ashton Institute in Wellington Road, Ashton, to make way for the development.

He has also submitted a separate application to build three, two-storey homes on the site after the demolition of the social club.

A decision is expected to be made by the council's planning officers under delegated powers in the next three months.
