Snow and ice causes havoc on the roads

Severe weather conditions affected drivers on Lancashire's roads on Tuesday.

Lancashire ambulance service confirmed that ice and snow caused several minor road collisions across the county.

The Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the North West between 3am and 11am, advising people to be prepared for widespread icy roads and heavy snow.

Matrix signs along the M6 and M61 instructed drivers to slow down due to hazardous driving conditions caused by snow and poor visibility.

Motorists were advised to approach the M6, between junction 34 at Lancaster and the M62, with care due to ice on the roads.

A number of school across Lancashire have also been closed due to the weather conditions.
