Skiddle at Wickerman

Lancashire-based music website Skiddle.com will host two tents at a leading Scottish alternative festival this summer.

Skiddle, an events, club listings and gigs what's on guide, photo gallery and on-line community, will stage both a live music and dance tent at the Wickerman Festival, held on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22, at Kirkcudbridge on Scotland's Solway Coast.

The festival, established four years ago, is a celebration of cult and off-the-wall music that climaxes in the burning of a giant willow and straw effigy – minus Edward Woodward! – from the 1973 film.

It features nine stages, including the new Skiddle run Solus and Refine tents.

Solus, a live music tent, will see Lancashire band Aurota, line up alongside the best up and coming Scottish acts, including The Aliens and My Latest Novel, Terra Diablo and The Hussys.

While the dance tent, Refine, will see Lancashire's finest take to the decks as Skiddle presents Refine. Preston favourites Pete Carvell, That Boy Bondy and Martyn Taylor will all be on the decks, alongside Refine residents Tom Metcalfe and James Ryan, and Mixmag Future Hero and DJ Mag Tip for 2006, Sonny Wharton.

Skiddle hopes to have its own little camping area at the festival, where people can meet, greet and eat together, with a very small marquee acting as a communal living area.

Tickets for this year's Wickerman Festival cost 50 plus 10% booking fee for weekend and camping/caravanning tickets and 35 plus 10% booking fee for the Saturday tickets. Children 12 years and under go free when accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available from.skiddle.com/wickertix/ or by calling Skiddle on 0870 235 4775.
