Some of the most popular shows from over 60 years of children’s television are to be celebrated with a special set of stamps - including Shaun the Sheep, created by Preston’s Nick Park.

Shaun the Sheep is one of 12 much-loved characters featured on the new stamp set.

The animation was the brain child of animator Mr Park, who also created Wallace and Gromit.

The full line-up features Andy Pandy, Ivor the Engine, Dougal - from The Magic Roundabout, Windy Miller - from Camberwick Green, Mr Benn, Great Uncle Bulgaria - from The Wombles, Bagpuss, Paddington Bear, Postman Pat, Bob the Builder and Peppa Pig.

The stamps are designed so each character ‘breaks out’ of the border.

Each decade since the 1950s is represented in this issue.

Mr Park, who was brought up in Walmer Bridge, was made a Freeman of the Borough during the 2012 Guild celebrations.

The Oscar winner attended the Guild celebrations during 2012. Part of the September celebrations featured Shaun the Sheep Championsheep, an attraction visited by scores of families.
