Fire crews were called to tackle a ‘severe’ kitchen fire in Chorley on Wednesday night.
Crews were called to Princess Street at 6.55pm.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said there were no casualties but smoke from the terraced house spread next door.
A spokesman said: “It was a severe fire that generated smoke affecting house next door and required resources of four firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish it.”
The Red Cross Fire Emergency Support vehicle and team was also called to provide shelter and support for occupants evacuated.
