Set to shine

Music hopefuls and and Preston pantomime stars are set to light up Lytham next Saturday at the switch-on of the town's Christmas lights.

Familiar faces Ted Robbins, Torchwood's Gareth David-Lloyd and Fifi from Fifi and the Flowertots will be joined by the stars of tomorrow to ensure the whole day goes with a bang.

The prestonguildhall.com Roadshow kicks off proceedings in Lytham Square at noon, with music, chat and laughter to keep the crowd entertained.

McClean (S Club Juniors and more recently The X Factor)

together with Mark J, Kingsley Judd (Kids Stars in Your Eyes' Donny Osmond), St Annes teenager Jade Parr (junior winner of the North West's Search For A Star) and Anthony Clegg (senior winner of the North West's Search For A Star with his performance of Nessun Dorma) join in the fun, along with appearances from the cast of The Greatest Kids Sing-a-Long Ever! and a chance to join in with your favourite songs from shows like High School Musical, Joseph and more.

This year's event welcomes special guests from Preston's Christmas pantomime, Cinderella -Ted Robbins from CBBC's The Slammer will make sure everything goes according to plan, and he will be joined by BBC Radio Lancashire's Sally Naden, and her panto fairy assistant, Fifi from Fifi and the Flowertots.

Gareth David-Lloyd, the star of BBC's Torchwood and Doctor Who, drops in to lend a hand and, as a finale, Cinderella (Jodie Hamblet) will arrive at Lytham Square in an illuminated horse-drawn pumpkin coach in time for the countdown to switch-on.

* Cinderella is at the Charter Theatre from Tuesday December 8 to Sunday January 3.
