Infant school pupils will be filled with the sound of music when they take part in a Christmas-themed sponsored sing-a-long to support the St Catherine’s Hospice 30th anniversary Give A Gift appeal.

St Andrew’s CE Infant School in Leyland has organised the Rudolph Sing-a-long to take place next month.

The youngsters will dress up in red noses and antlers to perform a host of fantastic festive tunes back-to-back, collecting sponsorship for their efforts from family and friends.

The children’s repertoire will cover everything from fun Christmas songs like Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, to classic carols like Away In A Manger.

As part of the 30th anniversary Give A Gift campaign – a list of 30 different things the charity would like to achieve this year – St Catherine’s is aiming to have 30 new schools involved in their work, of which St Andrew’s is one.

Headteacher Christina Dring said: “When we heard it was the 30th anniversary of St Catherine’s this year we decided we wanted to get involved and show our support.

“By combining our fund-raising with something fun and festive which we know our children will enjoy, we hope we can raise lots of money for the hospice as their special 30th year draws to a close.”

Norman Cutler, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s, thanked St Andrew’s for coming up with a unique new way to raise funds for the hospice this Christmas.

He added: “We love working with local schools both to raise vital funds and also help future generations see and understand what the hospice is all about.

“We’re still keen to hear from any other schools who might want to come on board and organise their own Rudolph or Santa themed event to raise money for St Catherine’s this Christmas.”

If your school, nursery or community group is interested in hosting a Christmas event for St Catherine’s, email norman.cutler@stcatherines.co.uk or call 01772 629171.

The hospice is also hoping to attract 300 walkers, joggers and runners to take part in the annual Santa Dash and Rudolph Rumble, which takes place on December 6.
