Chairman of the school's governing body, the Rev Chris Entwistle, said: "The governors decided last week to close the school as a mark of respect and also to allow people to attend the service."

Members of the school, including children, will be taking part in the service, delivering readings, prayers and singing, as Calvin was due to take part in an end- of-year production at the school.

School bosses have also paid tribute to the youngster on its website.

The statement says: "The tragic death of Calvin has left all of us at the school shocked and deeply saddened. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Calvin's family and friends.

"Calvin was a super young man. His bubbly character was ever present in school – a cheeky chappie loved by all."
