Two Chorley schools welcomed a VIP as a London 2012 silver medallist joined them for a special problem-solving activity day.
Team GB paralympic cyclist Rik Waddon joined pupils from Parklands High School and St Michael’s CE High School for the session at the Anderton Centre - an outdoor activities centre in Rivington.
Rik, who comes from Chorley, said: “After giving my story to the youngsters, I suddenly found myself plonking on a mountain climbing helmet and heading off towards a Krypton Factor-style obstacle course.
“At first I was a little reluctant to join in, as I wanted the youngsters to think for themselves about how they were going to tackle the course.
“But after a few minutes it dawned on me that I was going to be a part of their puzzle in achieving the goal of getting across the course.”
Rik will return later in the term to work with the pupils again but back in their schools.
