Blackpool’s Sandcastle Waterpark has been shortlisted in the Visit England National Tourism Awards 2014 competition in the category of Access for All. To be shortlisted for the title, the visitor attraction had to be able to demonstrate a solid commitment to ensuring all visitors can access the facility.
John Child Managing Director of Blackpool Sandcastle Waterpark said “This is really great news especially for all the staff who work so hard at ensuring we get this right time after time. Last year we were shortlisted and went on to win the National Gold Award so fingers crossed that happens again this time. In 2012 Sandcastle Waterpark was also shortlisted and we went on to win the Highly Commended Award. To even be shortlisted for what is now three years in a row is a remarkable achievement, to win Gold two years in a row would be a dream come true”.
James Berresford, Chief Executive of Visit England said “The Awards have been running for 24 years and without doubt play a major role in showcasing the fantastic range of high quality experiences we offer for visitors here in England, no matter what their budget. The Awards have had a hugely positive impact on tourism in England providing a benchmark for all businesses to aspire to and delivering massive benefits to participants and winners alike”.
