Preston’s Samaritans is hosting a special dinner dance next month to mark the 60th anniversary of the charity’s work.
The black tie event will take place on Friday November 1 at Barton Grange Hotel in Preston and includes a fundraising auction.
The prizes include a tour of the Houses of Parliament donated by Preston MP Mark Hendrick, a trip round Everton’s Goodison Park ground, and five frames of snooker with a professional player. Liverpool FC have also donated a shirt.
Preston’s Samaritans, based in St Wilfrid Street, is staffed by volunteers who offer emotional support on the telephone, face-to-face, through email, text and letters.
The event marks the 60th anniversary of founder Chad Varah starting the organisation in London. There are now over 200 branches across the country.
Guests at Barton Grange will include Samaritans from branches across the North West who have been invited to join in the celebrations.
