It was love at first sight when Max and Julie Knowles met at the Royal Mail centre in Fulwood, Preston, more than a decade ago.
And this Christmas will be the eleventh festive period that they will work together at the huge mail site in Pittman Way.
The pair, who live in Ashton, met 11 years ago while sorting out the post and have now been married for 10 years.
Max, 53, said: “It was a proper office romance, we met over a cup of coffee and a cream cake. It’s lovely working together at Christmas - we get things done. We work long hours but it means we can talk about things.
“We don’t find it a problem. We have a laugh; sometimes we have a difference of opinion.
“The only problem is when we get home we can’t ask what each other has been doing all day – because we know.
“We both do the same shift, and we have done for five years.”
The couple are stationed next to each other in the mail centre.
Max has worked at there for 30 years and works five days a week and Julie, 43, has worked there for 13 years and works four days a week.
The pair have had some very busy shifts throughout December.
“Cards are a lot busier,” Max said. “I think people have finally realised that Christmas is around the corner.
“It seems to have been a long Christmas this year – I think the message is getting out to post early.”
The couple are now getting ready for their own Christmas celebrations.
“We finish at lunch time on Christmas Eve, then we go into town, we are going to chill out, find a little bar and have a glass of mulled wine.”
Max, who is originally from Devon, added: “The mail centre is like one big family, we are with each other for long parts of the day.”
The last posting date for first-class deliveries was on Friday but items can still be posted today using Special Delivery.
