A specialist “rope rescue” squad of firefighters from Chorley made a 30-mile dash to help save an injured man stranded on a roof.
The team raced to East Lancashire yesterday to play a part in bringing the man to safety from the top of a house in Penrith Crescent, Colne.
Ambulance personnel called in the fire service and crews from Colne and Nelson, two from Hyndburn and the Chorley team all responded.
A fire brigade spokesman said: “The man was injured and couldn’t get down from the roof. The casualty was brought down safely and was taken to hospital by ambulance.”
