Local stars The Houghton Weavers and rock and rollers The Rockits are on the bill for a two-concert charity music marathon in aid of the SPACE Centre.

The day of entertainment, called SPACE-Aid, goes ahead at Preston Grasshoppers on Thursday January 3.

Organised by the S.O.S Committee, the day will feature two concerts, with the first in the afternoon from 2pm to 5pm, headlined by The Houghton Weavers, who first found fame with their own prime time show, Sit Thi Deawn, in the 1970s.

Then, from 7.30pm until late, the second show goes ahead, with a bill topped by rock and roll band The Rockits, from Preston, who recently secured a covetted residency at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club.

Also on the bill is Stephen Bayliss, who starred as Nat King Cole on national tour in Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story.

Tickets for the afternoon show starring the Houghton Weavers are £8 while tickets for the evening concert with The Rockits and Stephen Bayliss are £12. Both are now on sale from Preston Marina on 01772 733 595, available from 10am to 5pm or online at www.spaceaid.co.uk
