A busy road was blocked after a collision involving three vehicles near Preston.

Paramedics took at least two casualties to hospital for check-ups after the incident on Penwortham Way around teatime on Thursday.

Fire crews were called to the scene after reports that people were trapped. But all the occupants were out by the time they arrived. One was treated for shock and another had a surgical collar fitted before they were taken away by ambulance. The road was closed between Flensburg Way and Chainhouse Lane.
