A new scheme to help residents recycle more of their waste is set to start, as West Lancashire Borough Council begins to deliver blue wheelie bins to homes across the borough.
The blue bins replace blue recycling boxes for plastic, cans and glass, and will be delivered free of charge to all homes.
The council decided to introduce the bins after hearing from residents that the blue boxes were not big enough. However, householders who feel strongly that they want to continue to use a blue box will be able to do so.
The blue wheelie bins will be delivered in phases across the borough over the next seven months.
The first phase begins in October. Each property will receive a leaflet explaining the new system two weeks before the new bins are delivered.
