Report names police force among best in country

A police report card has ranked the local force among the best in the country.

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) report rated Merseyside Police one of only four forces in the country that are "excellent" at protecting people from serious harm.

The force was rated "good" at reducing crime, suppressing knife crime and providing a visible presence in neighbourhoods.
