Rent free weeks for tenants who are up to date

Tenants of Chorley Community Housing (CCH) don’t have to pay any rent this week or next, but only if they’re up to date with their rent payments.

CCH collects rent over a 48 week cycle, which means that in the two weeks at Christmas and at the end of March, anyone who has paid their rent on time every week gets a ‘rent free’ period.

But CCH are reminding tenants that changes to the benefit system, which come in from the beginning of April, will mean that some tenants will have to pay more towards their rent and that everyone would be well advised to pay a little in advance to help them manage their financial affairs better.

CCH also expect Universal Credit, which will begin to affect CCH tenants from October, to have an impact.
