Community mental health staff in Lancashire are using mobile technology to update patient records.
Lancashire Care is one of 75 Trusts in the country to benefit from a £30m Nursing Technology Fund Investment which means they can view and instantly update observations, care plans, appointments and more.
NHS England launched the application process in 2013 and Lancashire Care was successful in its bid, receiving £358,000 for a project relating to the service transformation for adults with complex mental health issues.
Dr Arokia Antonysamy, Clinical Director for the Adult Mental Health Network at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been given this funding. Providing access to the Electronic Care Record system at the point of care will deliver significant benefits to patients, nursing staff and other clinicians.”
“Currently, care records are updated manually on to the system when the staff are next able to return to their office.”
