A video promoting a Preston rave night has gone viral on the internet, with more than 570,000 views in the past week.
The four-minute clip for Bounce by the Ounce at Rumes nightclub in Church Street, was posted on YouTube by Preston-based videographer Stephen Singleton of SS Movies.
It shows heavily-sweating dance music fans strutting their stuff, girls revealing their underwear, and speaking to the camera, and has been labelled ‘the best/worst club promo you will ever see’.
Even celebrities have joined in the debate about the video. Comedian Jack Whitehall tweeted Ribbleton-born cricketer Andrew Flintoff asking “please can we go here for my birthday!!!”, with Flintoff replying: “consider it booked”.
The video was filmed on Saturday, May 31 at an event billed by the Rumes Twitter account as “the last time Rumes will be open ever”.
Management have confirmed that the club, previously known as PR1, The Ritz and Arabella’s, has closed.
A spokesman said: “We hired the club out to Bounce by the Ounce and didn’t know that it was being filmed, we certainly didn’t see any cameras.
“So it’s come as a big surprise to us that the video was made and it’s gone viral.
“It was a good night though, and there was no trouble at all.”
He added: “It’s quite a niche market for that music, and it’s good to see that people are responding well to the video. It will have done well for Bounce by the Ounce.”
It is thought Bounce by the Ounce will return later in the year at a venue to be confirmed, but the organisers were unavailable for comment.
Stephen Singleton, whose website states he works on weddings, corporate events and live shows, was also unavailable when the Evening Post tried to contact him.
