A fundraiser aims to scale new heights to raise cash for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Rachael Boaler, 33, from Chorley, is preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the cause, and money raised will help fund a world-class research Centre of Excellence.

To help Rachael – who works at recruitment firm Hays – reach her £8,000 target she is hosting a black tie charity ball on February 1.

Former Preston footballer Clark Carlisle, a supporter of The Brain Tumour Charity, will speak at the event at The Villa in Wrea Green.

Rachel is also receiving support from St George’s High School, Blackpool, whose
students and staff will be
fundraising in honour of their Assistant Head Sunil Gohil, who is currently recovering from a brain tumour.

She said: “I am excited to take on this big challenge in April, I expect this to be a truly life changing experience, although I’m a little worried about the altitude.

“I have been working with a personal trainer to get ready and am taking on local challenges such as hiking the Langdale Pikes later this month to build up my stamina.

“I am really looking forward to holding the charity ball for such an important cause.

“Our aim at Hays is to raise over £100,000 to fund a new Centre of Excellence which will be dedicated to carrying out world-class research.

“A dedicated research unit has exceptional potential to unlock real breakthroughs and could bring us one step closer to beating this
devastating disease.”

The Brain Tumour Charity is the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours in the UK and leads the way in ensuring all research funded is selected through stringent, independent peer review.

Tickets are still available for the charity ball.

They are priced at £35 per person or £300 for a table of 10.
